Google has now released new features related to the safety of the Pixel Watch series of smartwatches. The Pixel Watch 2 added a car accident detection function, and the fall detection functions of both generations of models are more accurate.
The car accident detection function has been available on Pixel phones since 2019, and now the function will be applied to Pixel Watch 2 in a similar way. When the watch detects that the user has encountered a serious car accident, a prompt will appear on the screen asking the user if he is safe.
If the user does not respond, the watch will automatically call the emergency rescue number, and the user’s emergency contacts will also receive a notification containing the user’s real-time location.
Google is catching up with this update. Apple added fall detection for cycling to watchOS 8 in 2021, and introduced car accident detection in the Apple Watch Series 8 in 2022. But this is understandable, after all, the Pixel Watch was not released until 2022.
