Samsung’s final release in the Galaxy Note series, the Galaxy Note 20, has commenced receiving the latest security update from the company. The July 2023 security update is now being rolled out to the Galaxy Note 20 series, shortly after the Galaxy Note 10 series received the same update.
The Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra are now fortified with enhanced security through the installation of the July 2023 security update. The update, identified by firmware version N985FXXS7HWG2, is presently available in several Latin American countries, including Argentina, Bolivia, and Peru. It is anticipated that the update will be gradually extended to additional Latin American countries within the next few days, followed by a global release by the end of this month. Primarily focused on security enhancements, this patch addresses more than 90 identified vulnerabilities present in the previous software version, without introducing any notable new features or performance improvements.
Users in the aforementioned Latin American countries who own a Galaxy Note 20 series device can easily download the update by navigating to Settings » Software Update and selecting the Download and Install option. Alternatively, the new firmware file can be manually obtained from our firmware database and flashed using a Windows computer and the Odin software.
Initially launched with Android 10, the Galaxy Note 20 series subsequently received the Android 11 update in late 2020, followed by the Android 12 update in late 2021. The Android 13 update was made available to the Galaxy Note 20 series in late 2022 by Samsung.
