There are high expectations for the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra’s camera, as it should become the company’s first smartphone to feature a 200MP sensor. According to a recent rumor, Samsung’s next flagship will adopt a brand new 200 MP sensor.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra would adopt an unannounced 200MP sensor
As reported on Twitter by the well-known whistleblower Ice universe, the South Korean giant will not use the ISOCELL HM1 or ISOCELL HM3 sensors on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, but a 200 MP sensor that Samsung has yet to announce.
The leaker does not reveal any other details about this alleged new 200MP sensor intended for Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, however, it could be an updated version of the existing ISOCELL HM3, but also a completely new sensor designed to respond to the new 1-inch IMX989 sensor.
Samsung’s high-resolution ISOCELL sensors are used more often by other smartphone manufacturers, however, Galaxy S Ultra models have pushed the limits of photo sensor resolution to the maximum in recent years.
Samsung could reveal the Galaxy S23 series in the first quarter of 2023 and break a new photographic record. Meanwhile, the company is preparing to unveil the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 and Z Flip4 foldable smartphones expected for next August, but neither device adopts a 200MP sensor.
