Google is launching a new Pixel Buds Pro for 219 euros this summer. Fans hope for fewer mistakes than before. So far, there have been a total of three different Pixel Buds from Google. In fact, they couldn’t have been more different.
In 2017 there were almost wireless Pixel Buds, the second generation was completely wireless and much more extensively equipped. With the Pixel Buds A-Series, on the other hand, they wanted to offer a price breaker – with fewer features.
Google Pixel Buds: No generation was completely convincing
Essentially, no generation has been flawless or contemporary. The first generation still had a cable to connect both earbuds. You had to laugh out loud at Apple about it. The second generation had serious Bluetooth problems and sometimes there was audible noise.
With the Pixel Buds A-Series, Google was able to break the price but missed a lot of functions. Many of the popular gestures, wireless charging and ANC – just to name a few.
Before the new Google Pixel Buds Pro, there were three very different generations. But none were perfect. Google pursued different goals and made major and minor mistakes. All good things come in fours, right? At least that’s what some Google fans who have used all three previous Pixel Buds generations hope. And I count myself among them, although there’s really only one feature missing from the Pixel Buds A-Series.
The new Google Pixel Buds Pro will go on sale this summer:
Now build on the positive things of the past
I find the Pixel Buds A-Series to be very comfortable in the ear. I don’t need ANC, the housing for the earplugs is compact enough. But what I really miss is wireless charging. I would love to put the headphones on the back of my phone so I can charge them so I don’t have to look for a cable or carry it with me when I’m on the go. The question is, if I paid only £99 for the Pixel Buds A-Series and am very happy, is this upgrade worth £219 to me?
