Microsoft just released a Windows 11 cumulative update, it will be the current Win11 official version (21H2) version number to 22000.708, users in need can check the Windows optional update and download it.
Judging by the update, this is the same as last Thursday’s Windows Insiders update, including a bug fix for Direct3D, which at one point caused apps to crash on some systems and even the Blue Screen of Death.
In addition, Microsoft has also brought the new Windows Spotlight feature, which was originally considered a new feature specially developed for Windows 11 22H2, but Microsoft has pushed it to the existing 21H2 version. All users will experience this feature after they install this update.
Windows Spotlight in the desktop background is similar to the Windows Spotlight on the previous lock screen, automatically bringing new Bing wallpapers to your desktop. If you don’t like this feature very much, you can also turn it off through Settings.
Here are some other highlights of this update:
- New: we’ve improved our family safety certification system for children’s accounts, especially when you request an extension of the time spent on the screen.
- New feature: Windows Spotlight is online, bringing a new background map for each day to your desktop. With this feature, the system will automatically help you set the new picture as the desktop background.

It is worth mentioning that after installing this update, some .NET Framework 3.5 applications may not open, but you can re-enable the .NET Framework 3.5 and Windows Communication Foundation in Windows features to recover.
Also, this is only an optional update. This means that there is nothing wrong with not installing it now. But it’s no surprise that you’ll receive this patch again next week or next week in the Tuesday Update, and Windows Update will automatically install for you.
