Sony is presenting new Xperia smartphones and is pursuing the usual strategy. That won’t do the sales figures any good. I can’t quite keep up with Sony. Okay, I can still understand the flagship, the Japanese offer an absolute high-end phone for filmmakers, cineastes, and audio guys – actually for all media people out there. It continues to set a benchmark with video recordings in 4K HDR 120fps, the 4K OLED display and the professional camera hardware.
However, 1399 euros automatically removes the Xperia 1 IV from the mass market. For Sony, the niche seems to be working. Which I can’t quite believe when looking at the middle price range. 499 euros for an OLED display with 60 Hz, for the comparatively weak 695 Snapdragon processor, is a bit much. Actually, only the optical image stabilization of the main camera stands out, which you won’t find in Xiaomi in this price range, for example.
Mid-range at Sony now with OIS
I still think that at this price more should have been possible. Which makes it all the harder for the Xperia 10 IV. In any case, I don’t think that impressive sales figures are possible with it. But maybe that’s not Sony’s goal anymore, other priorities have been set. For me, the Xperia 10 IV has a chance especially if the new camera shaves the competition. The first test reports will show that.
In the official video, Sony shows how important the camera of the Xperia 10 IV is to the manufacturer:
You can actually save yourself pictures of the new Sony smartphones. The design of the devices has changed again only in a few details. Which, by the way, means that the 3.5 mm jack is still installed in these devices!
