It took a good eight years for Google to finally present its first Android smartwatch. Now the Pixel Watch is official. A good year after the big restart for Wear OS together with Samsung, Google has also pushed through to its own smartwatch.
Fans have been waiting for this for ages. Unlike the Pixel and previous Nexus smartphones, Google hasn’t had its own smartwatch in the past eight years since the introduction of Android Wear. The wait is finally over.
Google unveils round Pixel Watch with NextGen Assistant
Google relies on a round case and a very simple design for its first own smartwatch. One might think that Fitbit was also involved. This can be ruled out if the design was more or less finished over a year ago, as leaks at the time claimed. The long-overdue Wear OS smartwatch, in our opinion, is finally here and it’s coming to stores soon.
The announcement that the Pixel Watch will only appear with the Pixel 7 in the fall was a bit disappointing. So Google has only revealed a few key data, but not the complete specs. For example, there should be a very extensive Fitbit integration, a new Google Home app for Wear OS and of course the new Google Wallet is also at the start.
