While work continues on the rebirth of Battlefield 2042, EA DICE Game Designer Frederik Drabert is looking out on social media to discuss with the many fans of the shooter series the future of one of the most contested aspects of the last chapter, namely the System of Specialists.
Designed to evolve and supplant the old multiplayer soldier classes division of Electronic Arts’ FPS series, the Battlefield 2042 Specialists system has not been welcomed by fans of the series, and dice’s authors are also perfectly aware of this.
Chatting with Battlefield fans, the developer of EA’s Swedish subsidiary begins by explaining how “we will bring many fixes and changes to BF2042 later this year. But it will take time, unfortunately. The System of Specialists will not be removed altogether but will be reworked.”
Specialists will not be removed but reworked.

According to what was reported by Drabert, therefore, in response to the requests received from the community, the EA DICE team will reformulate the Specialist system: it will not, therefore, be a real “return to the past” represented by the Classes, but a profound change to the current system adopted by users to modify the specialty, the Trait and the equipment of the Loadout of their alter-ego. We’ll see.
In the meantime, we remind you that the next, great patch with 400 fixes for Battlefield 2042 will be available approximately in the week between Monday 18 and Sunday 24 April on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
We will bring a lot of fixes and changes to 2042 in the course of this year. But it will take some time unfortunately.
