Samsung plans to have a harder Super UTG screen for the Galaxy Z Fold 4

In August last year, Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 3, the first foldable smartphone from Samsung to support large-screen writing with the S Pen. Although this model is compatible with the S Pen, its support is also limited due to the limited durability of its folding screen. Therefore, it only works with styluses with retractable tips instead of Samsung’s regular styluses.

At present, it is reported that Samsung is working on a solution to make the foldable screen more durable. According to a leaker on his social platform, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, which will be released this year, will use a new and tougher ultra-thin glass (UTG).

Samsung is allegedly considering marketing it as a “Super UTG”. In other configurations of the new phone, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 will have a built-in S Pen, similar to the current Galaxy S22 Ultra. In terms of screen, it will be equipped with a 7.56-inch foldable display and a 6.19-inch external screen.

Another report shows that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 will also improve the crease problem of the folding screen, and the report shows that the crease of the new machine is less obvious. Additionally, Samsung is preparing to sell as many as 10 million Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 units in the third and fourth quarters of 2022. However, industry insiders pointed out that given the current global chip shortage, this goal may be difficult to achieve.
