Pixel 6: Google is already revealing what the late January update will bring

Google is already giving the first details of what the owners of the Pixel 6 phones can expect with the January update. However, that cannot and should not be all. Not only in December but also in January, the monthly patch for Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will come later.

What ended as a disaster last month should finally be completely eradicated this month. Google surprisingly announces the later rollout again and even reveals in detail which of the problem fixes will be integrated.

Google is also putting off a second Pixel 6 update

And we’re just asking ourselves why this update isn’t rolled out at the same time as the other Pixel models? At some point, there is bound to be an official statement. We are of the opinion that our own new Tensor platform still seems to cause hurdles in the development.

Below you can find the changelog for the January updates. It turns out that actually all the fixes included are also intended for the Pixel 6 models. There is only one fix for the new devices alone.

On multiple Pixel phones including Pixel 6:

  • Fixed an issue that resulted in the screen unlocking after a missed call without a screen lockset.
  • General bug fixes and improvements for the network
  • Fixed an issue that prevented emergency calls under certain conditions while some third-party apps are installed.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Pixel Stand setup from starting under certain conditions after updating apps.
  • Fixed an issue that resulted in incorrect data usage accounting in the network menu on some networks.
  • Fixed an issue that resulted in a black frame when closing the Assistant Overlay on the lock screen.
  • Fixed an issue that, under certain conditions, resulted in a memory leak in the system user interface.
  • Fixed an issue that resulted in the navigation bar hiding under certain conditions when changing device orientation.
  • Fixed an issue that resulted in the PIP window rendering incorrectly for certain apps.

On the Pixel 6 only:

  • Fixed an issue that resulted in the Wi-Fi network losing connection under certain conditions.

Hey Google, there’s still something missing!

Personally, however, I am still missing a few things that have to come for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Fixes against Bluetooth crashes, a white screen after unlocking, a stuttering start of the camera and for stable cellular reception. And now those were just the mistakes that I myself have every day.
