The launch date of the Huawei Mate X3 is finally official. In particular, the new foldable from Huawei – successor to Huawei Mate X2 – will be released next year, as announced by the president of the company Derek Yu during an interview released to the Romanian media in the past few hours.
In the same interview, Yu stated that HarmonyOS is about to arrive in Europe, and the further novelty expected for 2022 concerns the release of Huawei Mate 50, after 2021 in which there has been a lot of talk about this phablet.
Returning to the Mate foldable, however, the president expressed his regret for not being able to bring the Mate X2 to Europe. This is due to post-ban limits and also to the chip crisis, both conditions that made it impossible to sell the device beyond Chinese borders.

Now, however, we have good news: Huawei Mate X3 will see the light in Europe, precisely in Barcelona, during the next edition of the Mobile World Congress scheduled from 28 February to 3 March 2022. Also from the MWC stage, three years ago, Huawei had amazed everyone by presenting to the world the second-ever folding smartphone (second after the Samsung Galaxy Fold presented the same year). In reality, the Huawei Mate X closing mechanism was not very well tested, and for this reason, the device did not have the success that was hoped for.
Specifically, the smartphone folded outward, exposing the display to break more frequently than flexible screens on the other side (inward). Two years after the release of the precursor, therefore, Huawei is preparing for the debut of a new futuristic device, especially as regards the characteristics of the screen and … what’s behind it. According to the latest rumors, in fact, Huawei Mate X3 will be the first foldable with an integrated fingerprint sensor under the display.
