Microsoft is preparing to release Surface Duo 2 later this year. Leaked pictures show that this dual-screen device will include a new three-camera module. The leaked image first appeared in a YouTube video last month, and it is expected that Microsoft will launch the Surface Duo 2 device in September or October.
The camera system on the Surface Duo 2 seems to be the major major hardware change on the device. It is rumored that it includes telephoto, super wide-angle and standard lenses. The leaked photos show a bump on the rear of the device, just like many existing flagship Android phones. In addition, Microsoft seems to have moved the fingerprint identification device to the power button of Duo 2, and placed the USB-C port in the center on the right.
It is expected that the overall design of the Surface Duo 2 will have relatively minor adjustments, with most of the major changes occurring in the camera system and internal specifications. There are rumors that the Surface Duo 2 will include Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 processor, 5G support, and an NFC chip for contactless payments. Microsoft may even slightly increase the size of a pair of Surface Duo 2 displays, the borders will be slightly narrower, and provide black and white color options.
Microsoft seems to insist on using a separate screen on the Surface Duo 2, rather than choosing a truly foldable screen like Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3. This means that all eyes will be on how Microsoft can improve the Surface Duo 2 software.
