According to DigiTimes reports, Apple plans to update its 4.7-inch entry-level iPhone SE in the first half of next year. The biggest feature is that it is equipped with an updated version of the A14 Bionic processor from the iPhone 12 series and supports 5G at the same time.
The DigiTimes report follows in the footsteps of reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who mentioned the same information in his report last month. Guo Mingchi said that the new iPhone SE has performed well among customers looking for small phones. It will be the cheapest 5G phone ever and hopes to consolidate Apple’s position in the increasingly competitive 5G market.
iPhone SE was originally released in March 2016, as a small entry-level iPhone to replace the iPhone 5S released three years ago. In April last year, Apple updated the iPhone SE for the first time, using the A13 Bionic processor used in the iPhone 11, with a larger screen, an appearance similar to that of the iPhone 8, and an improved camera.
According to reports, the upcoming iPhone SE 3 has minor changes in appearance and only upgrades the hardware, that is, the aforementioned A14 bionic processor and 5G. iPhone SE is the only iPhone in Apple’s current product line that is equipped with a Touch ID sensor and a Home button. This design will continue in next year’s iPhone SE 3. Looking further ahead, it is said that Apple plans to redesign the iPhone SE in 2023 with a perforated screen design instead of bangs.
