Samsung officially launched the Galaxy Tab S9 series during its Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event in South Korea. The series includes three high-end tablets: Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9+, and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra. These tablets are equipped with upgraded features, such as a faster processor, enhanced software, louder speakers, and improved battery life.
A notable feature of the Galaxy Tab S9 series is the IP68 rating, making them among the first high-end tablets globally to offer dust and water resistance.
All three tablets in the series are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy processor, the same chipset used in other Samsung devices like the Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Z Fold 5. They also feature an advanced vapor chamber technology for optimal heat dissipation, ensuring excellent sustained performance.
The Galaxy Tab S9 sports an OLED screen, an upgrade over the Galaxy Tab S8’s IPS LCD screen. It boasts an 11-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with QHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+. The tablet is equipped with a 12MP ultrawide selfie camera and a 13MP rear-facing camera, both capable of recording 4K 60fps videos. It comes with an 8,400mAh battery and supports 45W fast charging. Available in 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variants.
The Galaxy Tab S9+ features a 12.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with QHD+ resolution and a 120Hz variable refresh rate. It has a 12MP ultrawide selfie camera and a 13MP+8MP dual-camera setup at the rear, with the 8MP camera having an ultrawide lens. It is powered by a 10,090mAh battery with 45W fast charging support and comes in 256GB and 512GB variants, both with 12GB RAM.
The highest-end tablet in the lineup is the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, boasting a massive 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED screen with a 2,960 x 1,848 pixels resolution, a 120Hz variable refresh rate, and HDR10+. The tablet has a notch to accommodate two 12MP front-facing cameras, one with a wide-angle lens and the other with an ultrawide lens. The front camera setup can automatically pan and zoom during video calls. On the rear, it has a 13MP primary camera and an 8MP ultrawide camera. It is powered by an 11,200mAh battery with 45W fast charging and is available in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage variants, with the 1TB version having 16GB RAM.
The Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9+, and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra are equipped with OLED screens featuring Vision Booster, which retains contrast even in bright outdoor conditions. The tablets also come with a newly improved S Pen that can charge in any orientation and provides a more comfortable grip and better tilt angle for drawing.
Other features include 20% bigger AKG-tuned quad speakers, a bundled IP68-rated S Pen, a microSD card slot supporting up to 1TB, an in-display fingerprint reader, and Wireless DeX. They are available in both Wi-Fi-only and Wi-Fi + 5G options, and the packaging is made from 100% recycled paper, with a focus on using recycled materials for external and internal components.
The Galaxy Tab S9 series runs on Android 13-based One UI 5.1.1 out of the box, with Samsung committing to providing four major Android OS updates, ensuring support for up to Android 17. Additionally, the tablets are eligible to receive security updates for up to five years.
The Galaxy Tab S9 series is available for pre-order in various countries starting today, and shipments will commence on August 11, 2023. Customers who pre-order any of the tablets will receive the Slim Book Cover Keyboard for free, a valuable accessory worth £200.
