Samsung is preparing for the imminent launch of its highly anticipated Galaxy Watch 6 series, and an extensive leak has surfaced, divulging the complete specifications of the forthcoming smartwatches.
The Galaxy Watch 6 series is expected to introduce two distinct models: the Galaxy Watch 6 and the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. Notably, the latter will reintroduce Samsung’s iconic rotating bezel, a feature absent in the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. Alongside this noteworthy inclusion, the leaked specifications offer further insights into the enhancements brought by the Galaxy Watch 6.
According to the information shared by SnoopyTech, both the Galaxy Watch 6 and Classic variants will be powered by the new Exynos W930 chip, as previously reported. Coupled with this advanced chipset will be a significant increase in storage capacity, with 16GB of storage, and an impressive upgrade in RAM from 1.5GB on the Galaxy Watch 5 to 2GB.
The displays on both models are set to feature larger dimensions compared to their predecessors. Renders and earlier reports indicated that the thinner bezels would allow for an expanded display area. The exact measurements of the upgraded sizes are as follows:
- Galaxy Watch 6 (40mm): 1.31 inches, 432×432 resolution
- Galaxy Watch 6 (44mm): 1.47 inches, 480×480 resolution
- Galaxy Watch 6 Classic (43mm): 1.31 inches, 432×432 resolution
- Galaxy Watch 6 Classic (47mm): 1.47 inches, 480×480 resolution
Further upgrades include the adoption of sapphire glass protection, a significant improvement over the Galaxy Watch 5. Additionally, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic will feature a rotating bezel composed of stainless steel, while the regular Galaxy Watch 6 will be made from aluminum. However, the spec sheet does not clarify the material composition for the Classic’s chassis. The regular Galaxy Watch 6 will be available in grey, gold, and silver color options.
Battery sizes vary according to the models, with the smaller sizes housing a 300 mAh battery, while the larger variants boast a more substantial 425 mAh battery capacity.
Completing the feature set, the Galaxy Watch 6 series offers IP68/5ATM water resistance, MIL-STD-810H durability rating, and a comprehensive suite of connectivity options including Wi-Fi, NFC, GPS, and Bluetooth 5.3. Furthermore, the smartwatches will include advanced health-monitoring features such as a heart rate monitor with ECG capabilities, a blood oxygen sensor, a temperature sensor, as well as essential sensors like an accelerometer, barometer, magnetometer, gyroscope, and compass.
For those eagerly anticipating the release, Samsung has already begun accepting reservations for its new devices ahead of the Unpacked event. Customers who pre-order can enjoy a $50 credit applicable towards the device’s cost or an accessory like the Galaxy Watch 6. Unpacked is scheduled to take place on July 26, when the Galaxy Watch 6 series will be officially unveiled.
