Mritunjai Burman, an owner of the Galaxy Z Flip 4, has recently reported an issue with his device’s display. In his Twitter post, accompanied by images, he highlights the presence of a bothersome horizontal green line on the screen. Hailing from India, Burman claims that Samsung has declined to assist him with this matter.
Similar incidents of display problems have been widely documented in previous models, such as the Galaxy S20, Note 20, and S21. According to available information, these issues typically manifest after a two-year period of usage. Samsung addressed this concern last year by offering complimentary repairs for numerous affected phones, including those that had surpassed their warranty period.
Screen malfunction on a 5 month old Samsung Flip 4, still in warranty. @SamsungIndia @SamsungMobile says this part “Screen” is not covered in warranty.
So ironic, you spend so much money trusting the brand’s new technology and the brand refuses fixing the same.#samsungflip4 pic.twitter.com/RvXbCP3q7M— Mritunjai Burman (@mritunjaiburman) July 15, 2023
Burman asserts that his Galaxy Z Flip 4 is merely five months old and insists that he neither dropped the device nor exposed it to water damage. Upon reaching out to Samsung India for assistance, he was informed that the affected display component is not covered by the warranty. This raises questions, as Samsung’s warranty explicitly encompasses hardware and battery malfunctions unrelated to accidents, misuse, or liquid spills.
Although Samsung India has acknowledged Burman’s post on Twitter and encouraged him to communicate via direct message, he claims to have already done so without receiving a response.
Further investigations reveal two additional complaints on the AT&T Community Forums, suggesting that while this issue may not be pervasive, a few units are indeed affected.
This situation warrants attention for two significant reasons. Firstly, Samsung is expected to provide support in such cases, even if the number of affected individuals is small. Secondly, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 is a high-end smartphone with a starting price of $1,000. Consumers invest in devices of this caliber with the expectation of a seamless experience, devoid of such issues only months after purchase.
It is hoped that Samsung will promptly address the concerns of the affected users and swiftly resolve the problem at hand.
