Xiaomi has recently made an official announcement outlining its decision to exclusively support 64-bit applications with the release of MIUI 15 while discontinuing support for 32-bit applications.
In line with the successful migration to the 64-bit architecture by Google and Arm, MIUI, being an Android-based system running on smartphones equipped with ARM processors, is poised to follow suit.
Xiaomi has taken proactive measures to facilitate this transition and has informed developers about the necessity to adapt to the 64-bit ecosystem. Consequently, they have initiated a gradual phase-out process for applications that rely solely on 32-bit architecture.
As of May 8, 2023, the Xiaomi App Store has ceased to accept or update applications that solely employ 32-bit packages. Furthermore, starting from July 1st, incompatible apps lacking support for 64-bit architecture will be gradually removed from the store.
Xiaomi underscores the obligation for CPU cores utilizing ARM architecture to embrace the 64-bit architecture from the year 2023 onward.
