OnePlus, a prominent player in the smartphone industry, is poised to make significant strides this year. The OnePlus 11, its current flagship Android smartphone, has already garnered acclaim as one of the finest devices available.
However, the company has set its sights on a grander endeavor this summer, preparing for the unveiling of its inaugural foldable smartphone. Although renders and rumors have circulated regarding this handset, recent reports indicate that the device is slated to debut on August 29. Renowned technology outlet Smartprix and journalist Max Jambor have divulged these leaked launch dates, with Smartprix being the primary source and Jambor corroborating the information. The OnePlus foldable phone, known thus far as the OnePlus V Fold, might potentially undergo a rebranding and materialize as the ‘OnePlus Open‘ upon its official launch.
Regarding the OnePlus 12, Jambor has once again provided insights via Twitter, stating that the phone’s debut in China is expected to occur in December. While details about the OnePlus 12 remain scarce, renders based on a testing prototype have surfaced, revealing a design resembling the OnePlus 11, albeit with notable alterations such as a new periscope camera on the rear.
With glimpses of the devices’ appearances and reports regarding their specifications, the price is now the pivotal aspect, particularly for the forthcoming foldable phone. Samsung has long dominated the foldable market in the United States; however, emerging competitors have shown considerable potential to challenge Samsung’s supremacy. If all the pieces fall into place, OnePlus could ascend as the leading manufacturer of foldable smartphones this year.
