One UI 6 to integrate widgets on screen and lock screen, drawing inspiration from iOS

One UI 6.0

Samsung’s forthcoming One UI 6 is set to incorporate widgets on both the screen and lock screen, in a move reminiscent of Apple iOS, according to reputable leaker Ice Universe.

Last year, Apple introduced the lock screen widget functionality in iOS 16, enabling users to add multiple widgets to various sections of their lock screen, including the top, middle, and bottom areas. These widgets encompass a range of features such as calendars, clocks, fitness trackers, reminders, stock updates, and weather forecasts. Furthermore, users can customize their lock screen by tapping the “Customize” option or create new screens promptly with the blue “+” icon.

While the current iteration of Samsung’s One UI offers limited options for modifying the lock screen, such as adjusting the time, shortcut buttons, and message notifications, the inclusion of lock screen widgets will undoubtedly enhance the user experience, offering greater versatility and interaction.

In line with its development roadmap, Samsung plans to unveil the beta test program for OneUI 6.0 based on Android 14 in the third week of July. The beta program will be initially available for the Samsung Galaxy S23 series. Google recently released the Android 14 Beta 3 update, attaining Platform Stability, thereby allowing Samsung to proceed with its beta plan.
