Google has recently commenced the deployment of the July 2023 update for the Pixel Watch, albeit slightly later than usual, mirroring the release patterns observed on smartphones and tablets.
This update will enhance the security of your Pixel Watch by incorporating the July 5, 2023 security patch level. The specific build associated with this release, RWDC.230705.001, was initiated on Wednesday evening, albeit with a slight delay.
While Google’s official changelog has yet to be published, and the factory/OTA image remains inactive, it is anticipated that this update will primarily focus on minor improvements. This inference is supported by the build number, which suggests a consolidation of the significant Feature Drop from the previous month. Noteworthy additions from that release included SpO2 functionality, high and low heart rate notifications, and an automatic pause feature for running, walking, and cycling activities. Additionally, Google Assistant for Wear OS received expanded language support, encompassing Italian, Portuguese, Swedish, Polish, and Spanish.
To initiate the download process, users are advised to tap the “Your watch is up to date” screen, accessible through Settings > System > System updates. It is worth noting that this screen is currently displayed in a gray color scheme, rather than black. In order to expedite the download, users can navigate to Connectivity preferences and disable Bluetooth, thereby enabling faster Wi-Fi connectivity.
