Google’s Discover feed, located to the left of the Pixel Launcher, is undergoing an update that brings a more dynamic color to its interface.
Previously, dynamic color theming was limited to the top portion and Google logo, but now it extends to the background of the feed itself. Instead of the traditional white or gray backdrop, users will now experience a more vibrant display that seamlessly integrates with their chosen wallpaper. Notably, this change has no significant impact on the legibility of article images, headlines, or the top carousel of widgets.
The expanded implementation of dynamic color within the Pixel Launcher’s Discover feed can currently be observed in the Google App 14.26 beta release, although it has not yet been widely rolled out. This introduction of vibrancy adds a visually appealing transition between the feed and the device’s home screen.
In addition, it is worth noting that the Material You bottom bar, a feature of the Google app, has not been widely released on phones despite several months of anticipation. However, the M3 navigation rail is now operational on tablets, albeit without Dynamic Color support, defaulting to a blue accent.
