Google Meet, the widely used video conferencing platform, has recently enhanced its functionality by introducing a quick action menu on the web, aiming to simplify access to essential video features.
With this update, users can conveniently hover over their video feed to perform various actions, such as pinning the video, applying video effects such as filters and immersive backgrounds, and accessing an overflow menu. The overflow menu provides options to remove the video tile, minimize the feed, and reframe the video to optimize visibility and zoom level. This eliminates the need to navigate through the overflow button located next to the end call button in the bottom toolbar, providing a more streamlined user experience.
The feature of reframing the video is now accessible to a wide range of users, including Google Workspace Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Starter, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, Teaching and Learning upgrade, as well as Workspace Individual customers. Additionally, subscribers of Google One with 2TB or more storage space can also enjoy this functionality.
In addition, Google Meet introduces a new overlay that enables users to turn off the video feeds of other participants. This functionality proves helpful in scenarios where users wish to focus solely on the presenter or minimize distractions caused by other participants’ video feeds.
The new quick action menu on the web is gradually rolling out to all Google Workspace customers in the upcoming weeks, aiming to enhance the overall user experience of Google Meet, the platform widely utilized for remote meetings and collaborations.
