Samsung has initiated the deployment of the May 2023 security update for the Galaxy Fold in the United States. While the unlocked variant of the foldable smartphone experienced a slight delay of approximately one month in receiving the security update, select carriers have already commenced their distribution for Samsung’s pioneering foldable device.
The latest software update for the Galaxy Fold introduces firmware version F900U1UEU6HWE5 to devices in the US. This update incorporates the May 2023 security patch, addressing more than 70 security vulnerabilities identified in Galaxy smartphones and tablets. However, it does not introduce any notable feature enhancements or performance optimizations. Users can currently access the update through Comcast, US Cellular, Verizon, and Xfinity Mobile’s networks, with other carriers expected to follow suit shortly.
Installation of the Galaxy Fold’s May 2023 security update can be accomplished in a few simple steps. For owners of the unlocked version of the Galaxy Fold in the US, the update can be checked by navigating to Settings » Software update and selecting the Download and Install option. Alternatively, users can obtain the new firmware file from our firmware database and manually flash it using a Windows PC in conjunction with the Odin tool.
Since its debut in 2019 with Android 9, the Galaxy Fold has undergone subsequent major updates, including the Android 10 release in 2020, the Android 11 update in 2021, and the Android 12 update in early 2022.
