In line with the upcoming launch of the Nothing Phone (2), the renowned company led by Carl Pei has announced the release of a new iteration of its Android interface, “Nothing OS.” Today, it has been officially confirmed that the existing Nothing Phone (1) will receive this update sometime in August.
In a recent tweet, Carl Pei himself committed to delivering Nothing OS 2.0 to Nothing Phone (1) users “by the end of August.” This impressive timeline means that it will be available in less than 45 days after the launch of the Nothing Phone (2), which is scheduled for July 11.
Software support is very important to us. Nothing OS 2.0 will be coming to Phone (1) users by the end of August.

Nothing OS 2.0 builds upon the foundation of Android 13, much like its previous 1.5 updates. However, this forthcoming update is anticipated to be more substantial, incorporating an increased number of unique choices curated by Nothing into the software.
During a recent interview with XDA, representatives from Nothing revealed that the new update has been crafted “almost from scratch” with a strong emphasis on the concept of “functional aesthetics.” This vision will be brought to life through various alterations, particularly on the home screen, which will conveniently present users with their interests and pertinent information at a glance, thus minimizing the need for excessive scrolling or deep searching.
The nature of the forthcoming update has been alluded to in the interview, suggesting that it will be a departure from the current offerings in the market, promising a unique user experience unlike “anything that’s out right now.” With these intriguing hints, it remains to be seen what exactly Nothing has in store for its loyal user base.
