Qualcomm, the renowned mobile chip manufacturer, has officially confirmed that it will be unveiling its next-generation chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, in October 2023, marking an earlier-than-usual announcement for the company.
According to a statement on Qualcomm’s website, the highly anticipated launch date for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is set for late October. The company has scheduled its annual Snapdragon Summit to take place from October 24 to October 26, once again selecting the picturesque location of Maui, Hawaii, as the venue for this event.
During the summit, Qualcomm plans to provide comprehensive details about the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and showcase live demonstrations, alongside other significant announcements that are anticipated.
The decision to unveil the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in October is somewhat surprising, as it deviates from the timeline of previous chip announcements. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, for instance, was introduced in mid-November 2022, while its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, was unveiled in late November 2021. The Snapdragon 888, which preceded both generations, made its debut in early December 2020.
While Qualcomm has confirmed the launch date for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the actual availability of the chip in the market remains uncertain at this point. In the past, manufacturers such as OnePlus and Motorola were among the first to adopt the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, integrating it into their devices during the final weeks of 2022 and the beginning of 2023.
