On May 10, at Google I/O 2023, they launched the Pixel Fold and Pixel 7 series mid-range phone Pixel 7a. But previous Pixel flagship Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 owners face battery issues, they complained about overheating issues and battery drain problems.
The camera of these phones is very good but the battery of both the phone is not good. Users posted online and comparing about the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 batteries that got drained because of the apps. Below you can see the user’s post about battery performance.
My (P6P) and my wife’s (P6) have been overheating and using battery doing literally nothing since yesterday. Like not just warm, HOT. Losing 20 percent battery in under an hour without using it. The culprit seems to be the latest Google app update that came out May 12ish. Both the at-present beta and the stable version.” – Reddit user nocapsallspaces
I’m in the same boat. It just started yesterday. Massive battery usage from Google app and to a lesser degree Android System Intelligence. I just went through and did a factory reset, reinstalled most things and it’s still happening. Beyond the battery not lasting the phone is getting really warm so I know it’s harming the battery & potentially the CPU.” – Reddit user Buck9s
Currently, don’t know what causes the battery drainage though some Google app uses battery. Some posts said that may be this caused in reference of Android System Intelligence and others think after the May update battery start the issue.
The battery drain even when the phone is not in use and it gets warm and makes the user panic.
The latest update to the Google app is killing my battery on Pixel 7 Pro, and it is not an app you can prevent loading if you want to use the phone. @madebygoogle pic.twitter.com/8e5Rlz5dt4

Lastly, the user uses some solutions for this like turning on Extreme Battery Saver and others. In the coming weeks, it may be possible the company will bring some fixes to it.
