Apple TV is developing a multiview feature, as suggested by developer Steve Moser, according to rumors. TechCrunch has learned that Apple will launch a beta version of the feature on the Apple TV 4K tonight during its MLB Friday Night Baseball livestream.
To participate in the Apple beta software program, users must have tvOS beta version 16.5 installed. This version can be downloaded by going to the Settings app, selecting “System,” “Software Updates,” and then “Get Beta Updates.”
Apple hasn’t said when multiview will be available to everyone. The time frame for when tvOS 16.5 will officially end its beta testing is still unknown.
As first revealed by Tom’s Aide, the beta component is presently restricted to Apple’s games contributions MLS Season Pass, and MLB Friday Night Baseball. When Matchday 8 begins at 7:30 p.m. ET tomorrow, the feature will be available to MLS fans.
Users will be able to watch up to four games at once on the screen in a grid format with a multiview. After starting to watch their preferred game, viewers can select the “Add Game” button to use the feature.
We have learned that the multi-viewing experience can be customized in several ways. It lets fans move games around the screen, make one game bigger than the others, or choose to watch two or four games on equal split screens. The other games are stacked on the right if the user wants one game to take up the majority of the screen.
The remote also lets fans change the audio, so they can choose which game they want to hear.
