The resolution of the pictures you send and receive with RCS is significantly higher than that of MMS, but Google Messages is currently testing a setting called “Send photos faster.”
In today’s Settings, a toggle labeled “Send photos faster” appears next to “Bubbles” and “Hear outgoing and incoming message sounds” for some users. The portrayal proceeds, “Goal is diminished for quicker sending,” with this probably applying to RCS instead of SMS, which is now recognizably low-res.
The adoption of this preference is not widespread. Because RCS works like a backup service by uploading images to a cloud, it could be helpful for people who live in areas where cellular data is limited or who have particularly slow speeds.
As may be obvious, Google hasn’t expressed out loud whatever the maximum connection (pictures, recordings, and documents) size is for its execution of RCS, yet AT&T and T-Portable both rundown up to 100MB.
Videos can already be uploaded to Google Photos in place of text in Messages (MMS). Google tested a similar option for images at one point, but it was removed before the initial launch.
