WhatsApp has finally made it possible for all beta testers who install the most recent version of WhatsApp beta for Android that is available on the Google Play Store to link an existing WhatsApp account to an additional mobile phone, after initially releasing the companion mode to a select few users on the beta version.
We announced a significant update to WhatsApp beta for Android in November 2022 that included the companion mode. This element, an augmentation of multi-gadget support, has been intended to permit clients to connect their current WhatsApp record to another cell phone. Users can finally access their chats on the second device without the need for an active Internet connection on the primary phone by linking an existing WhatsApp account to a secondary mobile phone. The companion mode was initially only available to a small number of this version’s beta testers, but the most recent updates to the Android beta have made it available to all beta testers!

Right now, the subsequent gadget must be an Android telephone (or a tablet) as the sidekick mode isn’t at present accessible on WhatsApp for iOS. However, the feature is already available on Android, so if you have an iPhone, you can link a second Android phone. You need to follow these steps to link a second Android device:
- Download the most recent beta version of WhatsApp Messenger or WhatsApp Business from the Google Play Store to your secondary Android phone.
- The “Link a device” option should appear after you tap the overflow menu on the registration screen.
- Tap Settings > Linked devices when WhatsApp is open on your primary device.
- Point this device to your second mobile phone to obtain the QR Code.
- Your chat history will be synced across all linked devices when you link your WhatsApp account to a new phone. Even though the companion mode has been made available to all beta testers, some features, like managing broadcast lists and posting a status update from the linked device, may not yet be available.

It is essential to keep in mind that you can connect up to four devices simultaneously, which means that you can connect more than two mobile phones to your WhatsApp account. Moreover, your messages and calls remain to start to finish encoded in any event, while utilizing WhatsApp from a connected cell phone. Encryption is maintained on all of your devices when someone sends you a message. You can read the updated whitepaper to learn more about the multi-device operation.
The companion is available to all WhatsApp Messenger and WhatsApp Business beta testers who install the most recent Android beta version. We will inform you when beta testers of WhatsApp for iOS will be able to link another iPhone as a second device using the companion mode.
