Recently, Microsoft released an Android 12L update for its Surface Duo series and now after about 1 month, some users shared a post on Reddit stating that after updating to Android 12L, their Surface Duo failed to restore factory settings. Started an infinite loop. Simply put, it was brick.
Talking about this problem, it is mostly due to the Google Play service. Well, till now Microsoft and Google have not responded to this issue nor released any fix patch which can fix this issue.
Some users have found a solution to this problem. The specific steps are as follows:
- After restoring the factory settings, go to the settings and turn off Wi-Fi
- Find the Google Play Services option and cancel the automatic update option
- Quit the Google Play Services (Beta) program
- Manually update the application
- Enable developer options in settings
- Enable USB debugging and disable automatic system updates. These steps enable ADB to sideload the OS build.
- Restart
