In September 2022, Google started sending a new update for its Photos App. Yes, the Google Photos app is now upgrading with the changes in Memories, sharing, and getting an improved college grade. Now, these memories are getting their way at the top of the photo grid.
According to the information, more videos will now be included with Google automatically trimming long ones to just the “most meaningful moments.”
As part of these additions, you now swipe up/down to move between Memories — similar to YouTube Shorts, while tapping on the left/right edge lets you move photos within a Memory. You can check the complete changes which are mentioned below.
- Memories will now become more exciting with the new design, animation, and vertical navigation. (we discovered this earlier.
- Cinematic photos (Memories) will also have music, making your photos feel a little more like a movie.
- You will now be able to share entire Memories with your friends and family in just a few taps on Android (with iOS and Web coming soon).
- A new feature called Styles will automatically add graphic art to your memories to make them pop. There will be several designs at launch, including limited-time styles from featured artists Shantell Martin and Lisa Congdon made just for Google Photos.
- A new collage editor (that starts rolling out today on Android and iOS), with new styles from featured artists, allows easily rearranging the layout with simple drag-and-drop controls and editing the photos right from the collage editor.
