Tesla’s Model Y and Model 3 have become the two best-selling models in California, and have helped drive the state’s electric vehicle sales to a new record. California has been at the forefront of the U.S. in the push for vehicle electrification.
There are many factors in this: incentives from the state government, Tesla and other electric car companies choosing to settle in, and so on. A large portion of Tesla’s market share in the United States is contributed by California.
This week, the California New Car Dealers Association (CNCDA) released data for the second quarter of 2022, giving us some insight into Tesla’s sales in the state. The CNCDA confirmed that the Tesla Model Y and Model 3 were the two best-selling vehicles in the state in the first half of 2022.
“The Tesla Model Y is the best-selling vehicle in the California market, with 42,320 registrations so far this year,” reads the report. The second-placed: Tesla Model 3, with 38,993 sales, further indicates that the demand for electric vehicles in the state.
The Honda Civic, Toyota Camry and Corolla are the best-selling anchor models in the state, and their new registrations have been hurt by inventory shortages, but they still maintain leadership in their sub-categories.”
