It is reported that Microsoft is deploying Mica effects in the Microsoft Office productivity suite in stages. Not long ago, Reddit user Windows 11 Observer observed that Microsoft Word has been quietly integrated into Mica. However, this improvement is currently limited to Word, and applications such as Excel and PowerPoint are still unavailable.
Mica has become one of the most striking features of Windows 11, commonly described as a translucent/frosted glass effect. Outside of the system, Microsoft hopes to deploy it into its own products to provide a more unified visual experience. Regarding the description of Mica, Microsoft officially said
Mica is an opaque dynamic material that combines themes and desktop wallpapers to paint the background of long-lived windows like apps and settings. You can apply Mica to your application background to delight users and create a visual hierarchy that increases productivity by improving the clarity of the window on which the focus is located. Mica is designed for application performance as it samples the desktop wallpaper only once to create its visualization.
