Google has been improving Android Auto for a long time, Google is preparing Android Auto for the future. Recently Google released many updates for Android Auto, which included bug fixes and small things. But now we have come to know through 9To5Google that Android Auto will now work on those phones which are running on Android 8 and above.
These changes could be related to the upcoming rebuild that will bring some new features and make more functions usable at the same time. What is meant is “Coolwalk”, the update announced for the summer. It comes with a new screen, which, in addition to navigation or a map, also displays media players and messengers.
In the coming time, Android Auto will be so smart that it will also give smart suggestions itself. Understand it with the help of an example, suppose you can share your arrival time with contacts at the push of a button. The car platform is also becoming smarter in a way and addresses newer interfaces of the Android operating system. Which could ultimately be the reason why the requirements for Android Auto have now been raised. Maybe Google will completely redesign the app under the hood with further improvements.
Major update for Android Auto casts its shadow
Google has increased the required Android version by two levels or two years on the support page. If at least Android 6 Marshmallow was required on the executing smartphone, it is now Android 8 Oreo (released in 2017). Around 10% of the smartphones surveyed are still running Android 8, and significantly more devices with newer versions.
It has to be said that Android 8 Oreo shouldn’t be a big hurdle either. There are only a few affected users who may now encounter the problem of not being able to use Android Auto anymore. This is a bit different from Wireless Android Auto, here the installed Android must be much newer.
