According to Digitimes, an Apple supply chain source revealed that the customer’s first headset has completed Pre-EVT (pre-engineering verification) at the end of June, and is about to enter the EVT stage. EVT speculates that the new product is expected to be put into mass production by the end of the year, and it may be unveiled in the first quarter of 2023 at the earliest.
In January, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that the headset may be delayed until 2023 due to development issues related to performance and cooling. Ming-Chi Kuo also said on May 31 that Apple’s AR headset would take some time to enter mass production. He believes that Apple will not release the AR headset and realityOS system at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), and may hold a special event for it in a future press conference.
Now it seems that Apple did not mention this product at WWDC. According to The New York Times, Apple’s board of directors received a product demonstration of the headset, indicating that despite development issues, the headset is nearing completion.
