Starting today, PlayStation 5 owners who are willing to try a beta version of the firmware (and are accepted into the beta program) will have a host of new opportunities, including 1440p support.
The new video output option allows PS5 owners to choose that resolution on compatible TVs and monitors. If games support 1440p, native 1440p output is supported. Otherwise, 4K games will benefit from improved anti-aliasing through supersampling to 1440p output.
You can check if your HDMI device is compatible by selecting “Test 1440p output” under “Display and Video” in the system settings, Sony says.
