There is one thing to say, Google always tries to hide its tracks and not to leak anything on its devices. This year then he played in advance, announcing the new Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro to the Google I / O so as not to have to hide them.
Then what do you want to do if some employee forgets the prototypes lying around and they are sold on eBay or Facebook? The latest revelation on the camera sensors of Google’s new smartphones and tablets is, however, much more subtle and is the result of the persistence of Kuba Wojciechowski, a Twitter user.
📸 I have obtained info about camera hardware configurations on several upcoming Google Pixel devices. While this isn’t as important as Google’s software – obviously – it still reveals some interesting changes. Thread 🧵👇 pic.twitter.com/sPCcT6WjPa

Wojciechowski has in fact sifted through the lines of code, where the components and especially the sensors were somehow hidden by Google so as not to allow people like him to identify them. The leaker, who defines himself as a “data digger”, compared the identification numbers of the sensors ( ID ) with the drivers present on GitHub and in doing so he not only managed to trace the names of the sensors of the entire new Pixel line but has also found an interesting confirmation of a third device not yet announced (maybe Pixel Fold ?).
These are the sensors discovered by Kuba Wojciechowski:
Pixel 7/7 Pro camera sensors:
- Main: Samsung ISOCELL GN1
- Ultrawide: Sony IMX381 UW
- Front Camera: 11MP Samsung 3J1 with dual pixels, which should improve its quality and allow for semi-secure facial authentication.
As for the two rear cameras, they are the same as the Pixel 6 and it is interesting to note that the new sensor for the front camera is the same between the two models, while for the Pixel 6 they were different.
Pixel 7 Pro:
- Telephoto lens: Samsung ISOCELL GM1
The sensor has been changed from last year’s Sony IMX586 and Wojciechowski notes that the move is curious, given that the sensors have similar characteristics and performance, but maybe it could be due to the need to have more sensors from the same manufacturer to get more results. consistent in image processing.
Lynx – L10 – an alleged third high-end Pixel 2022 (test?):
Main Camera: Samsung ISOCELL GN1, however, this is where it ends
Secondary Lens (perhaps telephoto?): Sony IMX787
Front camera: Sony IMX712 13MP
The leaker notes the second sensor, of unknown purpose, and the front one (not yet announced) represent a novelty for Google, which generally uses older sensors. According to Wojciechowski, this Lynx is not the Fold but an internal test device.
Pixel Tablet – T6:
- Primary camera: Sony IMX355
- Secondary camera: Sony IMX355
This is the same 8MP sensor as the Pixel 6’s front camera, salvaged as a rear camera to cut costs.
P7 – the code name of an unknown leaflet, probably “Pipit” or “Passport”:
- Primary camera: Samsung GN1
- Secondary or internal cameras: IMX363, IMX386 (ultrawide of the Pixel 6) – listed as “FOLDED”
- Front camera: IMX355 (the same front camera as Pixel 6).
The latter is certainly one of the most interesting revelations, as it gives voice to the Pixel Fold, the folding of Google, while there are no details on the ventilated Pixel 7 Ultra. That’s it, but we hope to have more information to share with you soon.
