Earlier this month, on July 6, an OPPO Reno2 smartphone launched in 2019 caught fire in India. According to a tweet by a user named Vamshi on Twitter, the smartphone allegedly caught fire without warning as the user scrolled through the lightweight messaging app WhatsApp — and the phone wasn’t charging.
Afterward, the user further shared a screenshot of their conversation with OPPO India’s customer care service and a picture of the smartphone, saying that the brand has so far not been responsible for the incident.
A statement sent to the user by OPPO Care India seemed to say, “Your device was not actually burned, but was internally damaged. Therefore, we cannot consider it an explosion case. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our service. center.”
Never trust #Oppo
Oppo has once again proved to be the worst brand ever. I was just randomly scrolling through WhatsApp on my phone(Oppo Reno 2 256 GB). Suddenly fumes began to come out and the phone blasted.

However, according to the complainant later, OPPO India did not provide any statement of admission or a solution to the issue, and the case is still pending further investigation.
This is certainly not the first instance of a smartphone catching fire, though. Earlier this year, in April, an unnamed smartphone caught fire while being transported on an IndiGo plane. According to a statement from the local Civil Aviation Administration on the matter, the smartphone suddenly overheated its battery without being charged and exploded during the flight. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the process.
@OPPOIndia How come this is a damage and not a case of burn?
This is clear case of manipulation.
You don’t want to register it as burnt to safeguard your brand and keep safety of all oppo users at risk.@forum_consumer @consumerforum_

Other devices such as the OnePlus Nord 2 have also experienced battery overheating and exploding batteries in India, during which time the company has provided full equipment and medical compensation to users who have experienced the ordeal.
To recap, OPPO Reno2 is a mobile phone launched in August 2019. The smartphone features a 6.5-inch Full HD AM OLED display and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G SoC. The phone is powered by a 4000mAh battery with support for 20W fast charging.
