2022 iPad Pro will support MagSafe with MiniLED screen to improve battery life and use M2 chip

Apple is expected to launch the new iPad Pro in September (or November). There’s been a lot of information leaking about the new iPad Pro in the past few months, and new features are coming. Today, 9to5Mac wrote an article to take stock of the new features that are expected to appear on the 2022 iPad Pro.

A core feature on the new MacBook Pro and iPhone is MagSafe compatibility. With the 2022 iPad Pro, we may see Apple deploy the technology on a tablet. While it was initially thought that the company would make a full glass back for the device, that would make the iPad Pro more fragile and heavier, so Apple isn’t doing that for now. According to 9to5Mac, Apple plans to make a larger logo on the back of the iPad with a glass finish. This will help transfer power through the tablet.

Using Mini LCD screen material

When rumors about the 2022 iPad Pro started, it was thought that both tablets would feature miniLED screens. Now, analysts Ross Young and Ming-Chi Kuo said Apple will still use LCD technology on the smaller 11-inch iPad due to high production costs.

Mr. Guo Mingji said in March this year: “For the rest of this year, Apple will only offer one product in this category. Although it was previously thought that Apple would also introduce Mini LEDs in the 11-inch iPad Pro, we no longer believe this is the case, at least Not this year. Apple is reportedly targeting its MiniLED with larger, more expensive screen models.”

Improve battery life

9to5Mac was able to confirm that Apple is working on a new iPad Pro with a bigger battery after some users complained that the Magic Keyboard was causing excessive battery drain. While Apple always promises 10 hours of battery life, that means this iPad can handle more demanding tasks for longer — or at least, longer with the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil connected.

M2 chip

After Apple surprised everyone by adding the M1 chip to the iPad Pro, the company is likely to add an upgraded version of the processor to the upcoming 2022 iPad Pro. Of course, this iPad will be equipped with an M2 chip. 9to5Mac sources have confirmed that the new iPad will feature this new processor.

Summary

Here are four features we expect to see on the 2022 iPad Pro. As of now, it seems likely that the tablet will be released later this year, around September-November. This product is important for users to take advantage of all the features that come with iPadOS 16 such as Stage Manager, Reference Mode, etc.
