AMD recently posted a new open-source Linux driver code that enables the Audio Coprocessor (ACP) on the upcoming Ryzen 7000 “Raphael” desktop CPUs. The support for ACP is good news, but the bad news is that its launch date will be later.
AMD Ryzen 7000 “Raphael” desktop CPUs are coming soon. This desktop Zen 4 processor adds support for Linux. For users who rely on ACP audio, this new ACP audio driver code is very necessary.
Among the 5 patches released recently, the header files and other patches indicate that the AMD SoC ACP Linux driver will be integrated for the Raphael “RPL” platform. The merge window for Linux 5.20 opened a week ago, so it’s unclear if the code will be integrated. If you miss this integration, it will be in Linux 6.0 later this year.
