The European antitrust has summoned Microsoft’s competitors, therefore mainly Sony and Nintendo, to hear their opinion on the acquisition of Activision Blizzard and its possible implications.
A few days ago it emerged that the English antitrust is investigating the acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft, but apparently, even at the European Commission level something is moving, and it could not be otherwise considering the extent of this operation.
According to a report published by Politico, the antitrust has expressed concerns about the possible limitation of the access of franchises such as Call of Duty on platforms other than Xbox once the acquisition is finalized.
That’s not all: the regulator also wanted to clarify the possible possibility that Xbox Game Pass lands on competing platforms, an issue that, however, has already been addressed in the past by the same house in Redmond, which has collected the rejection of both Sony and by Nintendo.
In short, it seems that there may still be some pitfalls along the path of this sensational and complex operation, while it is said that the FTC could approve the acquisition in August.
