UploadVR reports that Meta is working to expand the types of virtual world content allowed for Horizon Worlds. Compared to the old April policy seen on the Time Machine, the latest update has allowed creators to offer “Mature” content that was previously banned by Horizon Worlds.
It is reported that the creators of Horizon Worlds have received an email reminding them that they must manually rate relevant content, otherwise they will be listed as 18+ by default. The old Meta policy page explicitly did not allow Horizon Worlds creators to list visual content that contained sexually suggestive, descriptions of controlled substances or activities such as marijuana alcohol, and violence.
But now, it seems that as long as it is marked as “required to meet the 18+ age of mature mind”, the relevant content has a chance to pass the platform moderation of Horizon Worlds. Of course, Mature grading does not mean that there are no contraindications. For example, although “sexually suggestive” content is allowed, “near nudity and overly suggestive” content and “depiction of nudity and explicit positions” will still be rejected.
Second, regulated substances and acts of violence—such as promoting the abuse of marijuana, alcohol, tobacco and other addictive substances, gambling activities, and excessively bloody, violent content—are still not permitted on the Horizon Worlds platform.
Finally, because the current version of the policy is not fully described, the public and creators still feel a little fuzzy about the red line boundary of the platform. What’s more, the lifting of the ban in a few areas (such as Flying Leaves) does not mean that all states in the United States allow it by default.
