Samsung is rumored to bring camera upgrades to the Galaxy S23 series, just like the Galaxy S22 Ultra, and the South Korean manufacturer is likely to put together more resources to make the upcoming Galaxy S23 Ultra stand out. One way to do that is to bring advanced optics to the top-of-the-line phone, and of course — a new trademark, which according to new leaks is related to imaging technology called Hexa²pixel.
Given that the Galaxy S23 Ultra is rumored to feature a massive main camera, the new logo could hint at a sort of 6-in-1 sorting technology. On the TM View website, the word Hexa²pixel was found, and the trademark applicant was none other than Samsung. As the image below shows, the trademark was approved on July 19, which is why we’re seeing it appear now.
We believe it will be used in marketing materials to make the Galaxy S23 Ultra more attractive to customers. As previously reported by the media, the new flagship is rumored to be equipped with an unannounced brand new 200-megapixel main camera.
No word yet on the rest of the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s imaging system, but the word Hexa²pixel clearly comes from Hexa, which means 6, so a 200-megapixel sensor might allow for a 6-in-1 binning technique to allow the camera to work its magic. Samsung has offered high-megapixel sensors in the past, but reviewers and testers alike said that, aside from the high pixels, it’s just about as good as other competing devices.
