Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known analyst at Tianfeng Securities, revealed that Apple is testing a 9-inch foldable screen device, but the rumored foldable iPhone will not be available until 2025 or later. In the latest tweet, Mr. Guo said that Apple is “actively testing” a device with a 9-inch foldable OLED screen, and the PPI (unit pixel density) will be between the iPhone and iPad.
The source said the device was only used to evaluate and verify Apple’s key technologies in foldables and did not represent the specifications of any final retail product. Mr. Guo believes that Apple’s foldable product development will initially focus on medium-sized devices, and then launch larger-screen devices, and finally expand to small devices like the iPhone.
Last year, Mr. Guo predicted that Apple would have to wait until 2024 at the earliest for the release of a foldable phone, but today he again predicted that it would not be until 2025 at the earliest. He said Apple’s first foldable device is either a hybrid iPhone and iPad or a foldable iPad.
