Oops, but we ran across a strange message. When I started the new work week, the Google Pixel 6 Pro didn’t want to save my photos because the charger had gotten too hot.
Backup is not performed because the smartphone is too hot
I actually just wanted a new screenshot to be saved. But it just didn’t show up in my Google Photos cloud. So I checked why the backup wasn’t running. Unfortunately, it is not unusual that the Google Photos app sometimes has to be started manually to start the backup process immediately.
But what I then saw was extremely unusual. Where Google Photos normally informs that the backup is in progress and how many shots are in the queue, I saw the error message that the device was too hot (see cover photo). It’s just hanging on the charger (cable) on my desk right now and hasn’t been heavily used in any way.
The devices automatically throttle various functions if they get too hot. This includes system performance in general and obviously also other background functions like the backups of our data. This time I just find the timing really weird and very inappropriate.
Google Pixel 6 likes to get too hot, but even with the simplest tasks?
It has often been heard that the Pixel 6 smartphones tend to get too warm in summer, for example. But even at your desk with only the charger connected and nothing else happening? Unusual. I hope that Google can already improve the Pixel 6a in this regard and at the latest the Pixel 7 can accommodate noticeable optimizations.
