Users of current Google smartphones can look forward to the next major Android update for the devices being rolled out in late summer. The public test run for Android 13 began earlier this year and a few months later users of current Pixel smartphones were able to install the beta. A few months later, the day came when Google was able to announce that the beta phase will be over very soon. Android 13 is only a few weeks away, the developers wrote.
Android 13: Not all questions have been answered in advance
So far, however, it is not clear whether Google will roll out the new Android version like last year. At that time, Android 12 was initially only released as source code. Only a little later did the system update come to smartphones from Google and a little later to devices from other manufacturers. The process could be similar with Android 13, although we currently see no reason for this.
These devices are eligible for Android 13:
- Pixel 6a
- Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro
- Pixel 5a
- Pixel 5
- Pixel 4a and Pixel 4a 5G
- Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL
“We’re just a few weeks away from the official release of Android 13!”
Google would like to reveal shortly when the final Android 13 will actually appear. In my opinion, a release in August can be expected. The current Android 12 was only released in October, this year it is much earlier again. This is probably also due to the fact that Corona had significantly less influence on the working world at Google this time.
At that time, Android 12 came as an update for the Pixel smartphones exactly two weeks after the release in the Android Open Source Project. This time, Google also has significantly more buffers for the next Pixel phones, which won’t appear until the fall. It was all much more tightly knit last year and may have been the cause of the sometimes massive problems with the Pixel 6 cell phones.
