Twitter Blue finally allows Android subscribed users to customize their app’s navigation bar. The feature was previously only available to iOS users, allowing users to get rid of the Spaces icon in the middle of the navigation bar. By customizing the navigation, users can reduce the number of displayed tabs to a minimum of 2.
Twitter first began testing the Spaces tab on iOS last year and rolled it out on Android in May, which seemed to just give more inconvenient users a reason to sign up for the $2.99-a-month Blue subscription that launched last year.
But Blue can’t get us out of all the features that clutter our app. Twitter announced last week that it will start including more information in a banner that displays active Spaces at the top of your timeline. While there’s still no setting to completely turn off this banner (whether it’s free subscribers or Blue subscribers), it will now show who’s hosting the space, who’s sharing tweets in the space, and related topics.
