Microsoft has released Office preview version 2207 (build number 15427.20000) to the Windows Beta channel. The new version introduces new options for Excel, allowing users to choose the data type that the application automatically converts. In addition, there are several fixes and improvements for Word, Outlook, OneNote, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Access.
Excel
Control data conversion
Users can now disable certain types of automatic data conversion; that way, users don’t have to worry about Excel converting data to formats that they don’t want or expect. Users simply select File > Options > Advanced > Automatic Data Conversion and select the conversion to disable.
- Fixed an issue where, in some cases, parts of the formula bar background would incorrectly appear white when opening a workbook after starting Excel with the Start screen disabled.
- Fixed an issue where protected tabs stopped working when the user reopened the app immediately after saving and closing.
- Fixed an issue where cell references in charts were not displayed correctly.
Outlook
- Fixed an issue preventing Room Finder from loading in GCC high environments.
- Fixed an issue where link permissions inserted using Outlook’s “Insert Link” option were not granted to recipients as expected (and could generate an error) if the user’s default link permission type was set to “Specific People”.
- Fixed an issue where the application incorrectly created new group configurations for other Exchange accounts in the profile.
- Fixed an issue where the app would close unexpectedly if the user double-clicked the meeting’s tentative response button from the reading pane when no response was requested.
Word
- Fixed an issue where the UI would sometimes stop rendering on ARM64 devices.
- Fixed an issue when applying 3D effects to pictures in the app.
- Fixed an issue that prevented the app from refreshing correctly.
- Fixed an issue where the application closed unexpectedly when saving a file as Adobe PDF.
- Fixed an issue where the content was hidden when the user double-clicked to hide the blank.
- Fixed an issue where adding footers via built-in tags incorrectly moved existing manually added footers.
OneNote
- Fixed an issue that caused the app to close unexpectedly.
- Fixed an issue where the cursor would not change when a shape or line was selected to move or resize after inserting a shape or line on the canvas.
PowerPoint
- Fixed an issue where changes to custom document properties were not always reflected in the UI.
- Fixed an issue where using Information Rights Management would sometimes incorrectly disable table style options.
Access
- Fixed an issue that occurred when trying to support Unicode characters in unique identifier columns.
Publisher
- Fixed an issue when applying 3D effects to pictures in the app.
Office Suite
- Fixed an issue where the app would close unexpectedly when using ink for math.
- Fixed an issue where uploading a CLP-protected file in the background would cause data loss or loss of protection in some cases.
- Fixed an issue where CPU memory would increase when processing files stored in SharePoint Online or OneDrive until the full capacity of the computer was used.
- Fixed an issue where the Ribbon Options menu was not rendering in Excel.
- Fixed a visual glitch in Office applications when opening the background by clicking the File tab.
- Fixed cropped images appearing blurry in print preview.
- Fixed an issue with correctly recognizing and inserting SVG formats from Adobe and Inkscape.
- Fixed an issue affecting the recognition and insertion of SVG files from various websites.
- Fixed an issue so that online users of the co-authoring feature will be notified when another user applies a sensitivity label they don’t have access to.
- Fixed an issue where the application would close unexpectedly and data loss might occur when opening Excel files stored on OneDrive and SharePoint Online.
