Microsoft’s Xbox Series S has been an affordable alternative to the Xbox Series X and Sony’s PlayStation 5. However, according to 91mobiles, industry insider Rishi Alwani said that Microsoft will increase the price of the Xbox Series S console, controller and Xbox wireless headset in India on June 30.
According to industry insider Rishi Alwani, the price of the Xbox Series S in India may increase on June 30, with:
- The Xbox Series S console will be raised from the current 34,990 rupees to 36,990 rupees, a price increase of 2,000 rupees.
- The Xbox Series S handle will increase from 5390 rupees to 5590 rupees, a price increase of 200 rupees.
- The Xbox wireless headset will be raised from 8990 rupees to 9490 rupees, a price increase of 500 rupees.
According to 91mobiles speculation, this price increase is due to the drop in the exchange rate of the Indian rupee against the US dollar. Since the launch of the Xbox Series X, the exchange rate of the Indian rupee to the US dollar has changed from 1 US$74 to 1 US$78. It is worth mentioning that Rishi Alwani said that the price of the Xbox Series X will not be increased.
Xbox Series S Rs. 36,990 (previously Rs. 34,990 ). Controllers now Rs. 5,590 (previously Rs. 5,390).

Microsoft has not made any announcements on the price increase, but 91mobiles speculates that if Microsoft is raising the price of the Xbox Series S due to exchange rate issues, other companies are likely to increase the price of consoles and accessories in India.
The Indian government is planning to impose import duties on “electronic transmission products” such as video games, e-books, and electronic music. It remains to be seen whether this move will materialize, and how the Indian government will define “electronically transmitted goods”. But it is to be expected that gaming in India may become more expensive in the coming months.
