The new Wear OS 3 was officially launched last year with various significant improvements. For a long time, however, the new software was only available for a single smartwatch. Samsung was able to use the software exclusively for its Galaxy Watch 4 and that hasn’t changed until now.
But it should be soon because the first eagerly awaited announcements from other manufacturers are arriving. In any case, it was announced that the exclusivity for Wear OS 3 would finally fall in the middle of the year. The first luxury manufacturer of watches and smartwatches confirms this fact.
Samsung loses exclusivity
This makes the Montblanc Summit 3 the first watch apart from the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 that is said to be equipped with the new Wear OS 3. The software will remain in its original state as far as possible and will not be adopted by the manufacturer. Although that would be possible now.
To date, it is unclear which manufacturer will follow Montblanc. Fossil and Co. have not commented so far, but at least wanted to update their latest top models to Wear OS 3. Expect some announcements in the coming months.
